Window Installation & Replacement in Arlington, VA

A single failed window can be replaced on its own when the surrounding openings and the rest of the home are still performing well.

Replace One Window, Several or a Larger Group?

A single failed window can be replaced on its own when the surrounding openings and the rest of the home are still performing well. Other projects make more sense as a group because several windows share the same age, style or performance problems.

The number of units affects planning, interior protection and exterior finish work. Before ordering or installation, each opening needs to be measured and reviewed for visible frame condition so hidden repair needs are less likely to become a surprise after the old unit comes out.

Insert vs Full-Frame Replacement

An insert replacement keeps more of the existing frame and places a new unit within the existing opening. A full-frame replacement removes more of the old assembly and can expose the perimeter condition for repair.

The right approach depends on the existing window, frame, sill and opening rather than on a universal preference. If the frame is deteriorated or the opening needs correction, a full-frame scope may be more appropriate than fitting a new unit into a compromised structure.

Opening Preparation, Sealing and Existing-Home Fit

The replacement opening should be clean, reasonably square and ready for the new unit. Perimeter insulation, flashing or sealant conditions also need to be handled so the installation does not simply cover old gaps.

Interior and exterior trim may need adjustment after the new window is set. General Window Repair, Frame Repair, Screen Repair and Weatherproofing remain separate services when the entire unit does not need replacement.
