Vehicle Clearance and Carport Footprint
A carport needs enough width, length and height for the vehicles it will serve, but it also needs practical room around doors, driveways and property access. The finished roof projection should be considered before post locations are set.
We review whether the unit is freestanding or attached and whether the chosen footprint interferes with existing walks, drainage or structures. A fully enclosed garage is a different project and belongs under Garages & Accessory Structures.
Prepared Slab, Footings or Base
Some carport kits are designed for an existing slab, while others require posts or anchors in prepared footings. The base condition should be established before the frame is assembled.
If concrete, excavation or grading is still required, that work should be scoped first. Installation works best when the support system is ready for the exact kit rather than trying to adapt a structural frame to an unfinished site.
Posts, Roof Structure and House Attachment
Posts and beams need to stay square as the roof frame is assembled. Attached systems also depend on a suitable connection point at the house, which can involve exterior framing and water-management details.
We follow the manufacturer’s structural system and do not improvise a house attachment where the required support is missing. A project that grows into enclosed walls, finished space or a larger accessory building should be handled under a broader construction scope.
