Prefabricated, Masonry or Built-In Fire Feature?
A portable or prefabricated fire pit can be a product-installation project, while a built-in masonry feature becomes part of the landscape. The type affects base preparation, clearances and utility requirements.
Before installation, identify whether the feature burns wood, propane or natural gas and whether it is intended to remain permanently in place. Those details determine where ordinary assembly ends and regulated fuel or masonry work may begin.
Fuel Type, Clearances and Site Conditions
Combustible materials, roof overhangs, fences and seating all affect placement. The manufacturer’s clearance requirements should guide the layout for a prefabricated unit.
Gas-fired features can require qualified gas work beyond mechanical assembly. Permanent gas connections and commissioning are not included unless separately confirmed within the appropriate qualified trade scope.
