Inspect Existing Gutters Before Adding Guards
Gutter guards work on top of the existing system, so the troughs, hangers and downspouts should already be functional. Installing guards over sagging or damaged gutters only hides the underlying problem.
Cleaning first also makes it possible to check water flow and identify leaks before the openings are covered. Repairs should be completed before the guard system is treated as the final layer.
Mesh, Screen and Cover Systems
Guard products use different approaches: fine mesh, perforated covers, screens or surface-tension designs. The roof edge and gutter profile affect which products can be mounted correctly.
We install customer-supplied or approved compatible systems according to their design. Guards do not eliminate maintenance or perform the same way with every type of tree debris.
Guard Installation vs Gutter Replacement
A guard can reduce the amount of debris entering a sound gutter, but it cannot correct poor slope, inadequate capacity or a damaged trough.
If the gutter itself is failing, Gutter Installation or Gutter Cleaning & Repair is the better starting point. The guard project should remain an upgrade to a functional drainage system, not a substitute for repairing one.
