For post-mounted units, the post should be stable and the box positioned according to applicable postal guidance for the specific property. Existing rot, impact damage or loose footings can make replacing only the box inadequate.
Wall-mounted units need suitable support in the exterior surface. We avoid treating siding or thin trim as structural support when the product requires a more secure attachment.
