Structure Type Determines the Foundation
A shed, gazebo, carport and pavilion do not necessarily use the same support system. The size, weight and manufacturer requirements should be known before the base is selected.
A small kit may use a prepared gravel or block base, while larger structures may require footings or a slab. The foundation should be designed around the actual structure rather than built first and adapted later.
Grade, Drainage and Surface Conditions
Water should not collect beneath or against the finished structure. Existing slope, soil and nearby downspouts can affect where a base should sit and how it is prepared.
Correcting grade or drainage may be part of the site work, but large earthwork or engineered drainage systems can exceed a simple structure-foundation installation.
Footings, Slabs and Manufacturer-Specified Bases
The support method should match the structure and applicable project requirements. Engineering and permit responsibilities must be confirmed for the specific project; they are not automatically included.
