Existing Patio or Deck and Enclosure Footprint
A screen room can be built from a kit or created around an existing covered patio or deck. The starting structure determines how much of the project is assembly versus new construction.
Before planning walls and screen panels, confirm the floor area, roof condition and how people will enter the enclosure. A bare patio without a roof creates a different project from screening an existing covered porch.
Roof, Frame and Screen System
The frame needs to stay square so screen panels and doors fit without twisting. Roof panels, if part of the system, should be installed in the manufacturer’s sequence with water flow in mind.
Existing house connections and roof edges may require additional carpentry. A four-season room with insulated walls and climate control belongs under Sunroom or Addition work rather than a simple screen enclosure.
