Cracked Tile or Failing Substrate?
A cracked tile can come from impact, but it can also reflect movement in the substrate below. Replacing the tile without understanding the cause may lead to the same crack returning.
For localized repair, matching tile and access to the damaged area matter. If several tiles are loose or grout cracks repeatedly across the same line, the underlying support should be examined before treating the problem as cosmetic.

New tile depends on a stable, prepared surface and a layout that avoids awkward slivers at visible edges. Room shape, doorways and focal areas influence where full tiles should begin.
Movement and transition details are also important where materials or rooms meet. Wet areas may add waterproofing requirements that belong to a bathroom or shower-specific scope rather than ordinary floor tile installation.
Repair One Area or Retile the Room?
A few damaged tiles can be replaced when the surrounding installation remains sound. Broad hollow spots, substrate failure or unavailable matching tile can make a larger replacement more practical.
