Identify the Sink and Existing Connections
Drop-in, undermount and farmhouse sinks attach differently and depend on different countertop and cabinet conditions. The existing opening should be compared with the replacement before the old sink is removed.
Drain, disposal and faucet locations also influence the work. A sink that physically fits the countertop can still create cabinet or plumbing conflicts below.
Repair or Replace the Sink?
Leaks may come from the sink body, mounting seal, drain assembly or faucet rather than the basin itself. Identifying the source avoids replacing a usable sink unnecessarily.
Chips, cracks or rusted material can make replacement more reasonable. The feasibility of repair depends on the sink material and where the damage is located.

Sink work sits at the intersection of cabinetry, countertop and plumbing. Undermount supports, clips and sealant need to suit the countertop system.
