Vanity Footprint, Wall and Plumbing Conditions
A vanity needs to fit the room, the wall and the existing plumbing at the same time. Before installation, confirm the cabinet width, depth, door swing and whether the drain and supply locations work with the new unit.
A freestanding vanity can be simpler than a wall-hung model. If plumbing has to move substantially or the wall needs reinforcement, that additional work should be identified before the cabinet is set.
Cabinet, Top and Mirror Alignment
The vanity base needs to sit level so doors, drawers and the countertop align correctly. Walls and floors can be uneven, so fillers or shims may be needed rather than forcing the cabinet tight to every surface.
Mirrors should be centered around the vanity and lighting, with mounting hardware suited to the wall and mirror weight. Large or specialty mirrors may need a different support method than a small framed piece.
