Confirm Tub Footprint and Access
Walk-in tubs can be larger, taller or configured differently from a standard bathtub. The opening, bathroom layout and delivery route should be checked before the existing tub is removed.
Door swing and user entry also affect where nearby fixtures can remain. A product that technically fits the alcove may still require changes to the room around it.
Plumbing, Electrical and Floor Conditions
The new tub may require drain, supply and, for powered features, electrical connections. Those regulated trade needs should be planned with appropriately qualified professionals.
The subfloor also needs to be sound enough for the product. Water damage discovered during removal should be repaired before the new unit is installed.
Entry Door, Seating and Grab Support
The tub’s door, seat and supplied support features should operate as designed once the unit is level and connected.
