Sliding vs Hinged Patio Door Systems
Patio doors can slide on tracks, swing on hinges or use multi-panel configurations that create very different repair needs. A sliding door may be difficult because of worn rollers or a damaged track, while a hinged patio door depends more on frame alignment and weather seals.

Tracks, Rollers and Smooth Operation
Sliding doors rely on the lower track and roller system to carry a large glass panel. Dirt, damaged rollers, bent track sections and poor adjustment can all make the door feel much heavier than it should.
A repair may involve cleaning, adjustment or replacement of compatible hardware when the panel and frame remain usable. If the track or frame is badly damaged, a small roller repair may not solve the larger problem and replacement should be considered.
Locks, Weather Seals and Repair vs Replacement
Handles, locks and seals affect security, closing pressure and drafts around the door. A door that closes poorly can wear those components faster because the panel is not meeting the frame correctly.
