Door Panel, Track or Balance Problem?
Garage doors depend on panels, hinges, tracks, rollers and a counterbalance system working together. A door that binds or sits crooked may not have the same problem as one with visible panel damage.
Before repair, identify what the door is doing and whether the issue appears in the tracks, rollers, panels or balance. High-tension springs are safety-critical components and should only be handled within an appropriately qualified scope.
Repair the Existing Door or Replace It?
Rollers, hinges and localized track problems may be repairable when the door is structurally sound. Severely damaged panels, widespread corrosion or an incompatible old system can shift the project toward replacement.
The opening, headroom and track layout need to match the replacement system. A new door is not simply a larger version of swapping a residential interior door.
Door System vs Opener and Sensors
The powered opener and safety sensors have separate pages because they are electrical/mechanical control systems rather than the door panels and track themselves.
Keeping them separate helps identify whether the door is hard to move manually, whether the opener is failing, or whether a sensor prevents normal operation.
