Choose Wall-Mounted, Ceiling or Freestanding Storage
Garage racks can use wall standards, ceiling suspension or freestanding frames. The intended storage weight and location determine which approach is appropriate.
Before mounting, identify doors, garage-door tracks, lights and vehicle clearance. Overhead racks especially need enough headroom so stored items do not interfere with moving equipment.
Support and Fastener Conditions
Wall and ceiling racks may require attachment to framing rather than finish surfaces alone. The manufacturer’s bracket pattern and load guidance should control the installation.
If suitable support cannot be reached at the intended location, the rack may need to move or additional carpentry may be required. Load capacity must be confirmed for the actual rack, support and installation conditions.
