Repair the Leak or Install a New Faucet?
A dripping faucet can come from an internal cartridge, seal or worn component, while leakage below the sink may involve supply or drain connections.
The first step is identifying where the water appears. A repair can make sense when compatible parts are available and the fixture body remains sound; widespread corrosion or damage can make replacement more practical.
Sink and Countertop Hole Configuration
Replacement faucets need to match the mounting holes and available space around the sink. Single-hole, widespread and centerset products are not interchangeable without considering the countertop or deck.
Accessories such as side sprayers or soap dispensers can use additional openings. The layout should be confirmed before the old faucet is removed.
Supply Lines, Valves and Plumbing Boundaries
Existing shutoff valves and supply lines need to be serviceable enough for the new faucet connection. If valves leak, piping is damaged or the supply arrangement needs alteration, the project can move beyond a fixture replacement.
